At Barnwood C of E Primary School, we believe that a quality computing curriculum should develop the children’s ability to build lifelong skills that will enable them to embrace the rapidly developing new technology as ‘ambitious and responsible citizens’. Children will leave our school being ‘digitally literate’ and ‘competent users of developing technologies. They will develop their creativity, resilience and computational thinking through the skills taught within our curriculum.

We aim to provide a Computing curriculum which follows a clear pathway of progression, from EYFS to Year 6, and that fosters a positive attitude to learning and is driven by our core vision of ‘loving our neighbour and working together to be the best we can be, for the good of all’. Children will leave our school being ‘digitally literate’ and ‘competent users of developing technologies. They will develop their creativity, resilience and computational thinking through the skills taught within our curriculum.

Children will gain confidence and enjoyment from the use of technology as an integral part of their learning across the school.

Our Christian values provide a strong foundation upon which to build and St Lawrence Church with our surrounding community of Barnwood are placed at the heart of our school. Starting with themselves, children will develop an understanding of their place in this digital age as individuals, their role within the community and as members of the wider global picture where they can develop and respect tolerance of other cultures and an understanding of British Values.

At Barnwood we use Teach Computing to support teaching and  learning in computing and we use Digital Futures for our internet and online safety sessions.
