Design & Technology
Mrs West
At Barnwood C of E Primary School, we believe that a quality Design Technology curriculum will follow the process of design, make and evaluate to spark curiosity and produce both exciting and appealing products which use simple mechanisms and draw other subjects as an integrated theme approach to learning.
We aim to provide a DT curriculum, from EYFS to Year 6, that follows a clear pathway of skills progression. and fosters a positive attitude to lifelong learning which is driven by our core vision of ‘loving our neighbour and working together to be the best we can be, for the good of all’.
We will inspire children to be confident in the art of speaking and listening, developing appropriate key vocabulary that enables our children to communicate effectively when evaluating their own work and that of others developing self-esteem and resilience, whilst gaining the opportunity to develop culturally, emotionally, intellectually, socially and spiritually.
Our Christian values provide a strong foundation upon which to build and St Lawrence Church with our surrounding community is placed at the heart of our school. Children will explore British values within a multicultural society and how this fits into our wider world as they develop acceptance, tolerance and respect of themselves and others. They will solve real and relevant problems linking closely to the current local and global challenges they face within varied contexts considering the needs of others and being capable citizens who make a constructive contribution to our society.
